How To Maintain Porcelain & Ceramic Tile
Follow these few easy steps to keep your porcelain or ceramic tile in top shape everywhere in your home.
Tile countertops
Everyday dirt and stains should be cleaned with a pH-balanced cleaner. Avoid using acidic cleaners too often since it can damage the tile. Use it to clean deeper dirt stains.
Use an alkaline cleaner for ceramic and porcelain tile to get rid of heavy grease and oil stains. Avoid using household cleaners with dyes, ammonia or abrasives, since these can damage the tile or discolor it permanently.
Tile floors
Once per week, vacuum or dust with a dry mop. Failure to do this can result in dirt scratching your tile or loss of color. In areas with high foot traffic, lay down a mat or a rug to avoid any potential damage. Once a fortnight, clean the tile floor with a diluted solution of a mild cleaner.
Bathrooms
Everyday dirt and stains should be cleaned with a pH-balanced cleaner. Use a squeegee to minimize any build-up from cleaning products in order to keep your tiles shiny.
Regular repairs
An important part of regular tile maintenance is fixing or replacing broken and scratched tiles. Use sealants to protect your counters and high traffic areas from damage. Whenever a tile breaks, repair as fast as possible to prevent any further damage.
