How to remove tough stains from ceramic and porcelain tile
A frequent complaint is staining due to kitchen mishaps. These type of stains can occasionally penetrate the porous finish and become painful to remove.
Bleach and other oxidants are used to eliminate deep and stains but not in case of saturated stains and hard water marks. Consider the following options:
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Steam Cleaning (for flooring)
Another method for removing difficult stains is with the help of a frequently used solution by professionals, named diluted muriatic acid. This substance treats and removes various tough stains from surfaces as tile and stone. It is necessary to ventilate the area and use heavy gloves, eye protection, and a mask.
Te recipe is the following: dilute the acid to at least 1 part acid to 5 parts water. Now pour the acid into the water and not the other way around. Apply the mixture and scrub the area with a toothbrush or a soft bristle brush. Quickly wash the area after the stain is eliminated.
Replacing the Grout
You can remove a persistent stain from the grout by applying the same procedure as above.
For grout stains which can’t be removed with a regular method, you may have to removal the grout from that area. This can be done quickly and effectively by using a small grout remover.
After the stained grout has been eliminated, there will be a space in need to be filled. You can try a grout sample from your local store and see if it maches your grout. After you found the right one, make a small batch of grout by following the directions provided on the box.
